How Mommy MD works

Last updated November 5, 2026

Mommy MD is a health tracking app for families. A parent is the patient, and their adult children help look after them. Each record belongs to one family, and only people invited by that family can see it. There is no public sign-up.

The app brings the patient's records and home readings into one place. An AI assistant reads that record to give calm daily tips and to tell the family what they need to know.

Connecting to MyChart

Mommy MD connects to the patient's MyChart account using Epic's standard patient access. The patient signs in once with their own MyChart login and chooses to allow access. Mommy MD never sees or stores that password.

  • Read only. Mommy MD reads records. It cannot change anything in MyChart or in a hospital's systems.
  • The patient's own records only. The connection reaches the signed-in patient's records and no one else's.
  • Stays connected. The app uses refresh tokens so the patient does not need to sign in again for each update. Those tokens are kept encrypted on the server, never on a phone.
  • The patient can end it. They can remove access at any time from MyChart, or by asking us.

What it reads from MyChart, and why

Patient detailsTo confirm this is the right person's record
ConditionsTo understand their health when explaining results and giving tips
Lab results and vital signsTo show results over time and compare them with home readings
MedicinesTo list current prescriptions
AllergiesTo keep the record complete and avoid unsafe suggestions
Test reportsTo explain reports such as heart ultrasounds in plain words
Visit notes and documentsTo keep what the care team wrote with the rest of the record
VisitsTo show past visits and prepare for upcoming ones
ProceduresTo keep their medical history complete
ImmunizationsTo keep their medical history complete

Who can see it

Only the patient and the family members they have agreed to, each with their own login. The record is never shown to doctors, employers, insurers or anyone outside the family through this app.

Other sources

The app also uses readings the patient chooses to share through Apple Health, heart readings from their personal heart monitor, what they say about how they feel, and notes from the family.

Keeping it safe

  • All connections are encrypted.
  • Sign-in keys and connection tokens are stored as server secrets, never in the phone app.
  • The app and its data are not indexed by search engines.
